REGIONAL CENTER OF THE EAST BAY

Staff Physician – 50% (20 hrs. /wk.)

SALARY RANGE: $2,464.97 - $3,303.30 Bi-weekly / $64,089.22 - $85,885.80 Annual

REPORTS TO: Manager, Outreach, Intake and Assessment

LOCATION: San Leandro, CA.

 

DUTIES: Client Centered Activities

1. Provides a medical report on all new assessment cases, obtaining and summarizing pertinent medical records.

2. Performs history and physical examination on new and existing clients when indicated to evaluate and determine medical and developmental status.

3. Arranges and authorizes appropriate referrals and consultation.

4. Communicates with community physician and health agencies to obtain and share information and facilitate or arrange for additional treatment. Monitors client’s health status to ensure that level of medical supervision is adequate.

5. Participates with and provides consultation to counselor on interdisciplinary team for evaluation, planning on-going case management.

6. Provides consultation to health professionals and agencies in regard to developmental and health status and needs of an individual client.

7. Participates in program planning and review in discharge planning for individuals in State Hospitals.

8. Serves as advocate to ensure that adequate and appropriate health services are made effectively available to developmentally disabled individuals.

DUTIES: Community Centered Activities

1. Provides education and general consultation for counselors and other Regional Center Staff.

2. Works with community professionals and agencies towards increasing the developmental disability care expertise in the community. 

3. Participates in efforts to upgrade and enhance programs for clients in general.

4. Participates in professional organizations, serves on committees, and works with colleagues towards professional and public education.

5. Represents agency at meetings of community physicians.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

1. One year experience with persons with developmental disabilities.

2. Licensed as a Physician in the State of California.

3. Residency in pediatrics preferred, consideration will be given to candidates with background in internal medicine or neurology.

4. Automobile and valid driver’s license required.

5. Must be computer knowledgeable.

6. Demonstrate cultural awareness and sensitivity and an ability to work effectively with culturally diverse populations.
