Job Details

Section Chief of Pediatric Cardiology

Lebanon, NH

The Department of Pediatrics at the Children's Hospital at Dartmouth-Hitchcock (CHaD) and Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth seeks a dynamic leader to become Section Chief of Pediatric Cardiology.  A founding member of the Northern New England Regional Program in Pediatric Cardiology, a collaborative with Boston Children's Hospital and the University of Vermont Children's Hospital, the Section provides comprehensive care for infants, children and adolescents with cardiovascular conditions across the state of New Hampshire and eastern Vermont. It also houses a strong fetal program and a growing adult congenital heart program in conjunction with Dartmouth-Hitchcock's Heart & Vascular Center.

Excellent interpersonal, clinical, and teaching skills are expected, along with board certification in pediatric cardiology. Academic opportunities across Dartmouth's campuses include world-class traditional biomedical research, global health initiatives, and renowned leadership in quality improvement and healthcare delivery sciences at The Dartmouth Institute for Health Policy and Clinical Practice. Active participation in pediatric undergraduate, graduate, and continuing medical education is required, with appointment at the Geisel School of Medicine granted at a rank commensurate with experience.

Care is delivered at CHaD's two major specialty hubs - Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center (DHMC), the region's 396-bed academic medical center in Lebanon, New Hampshire, and D-H Manchester, a comprehensive ambulatory center in the state's largest city - which are linked through robust telehealth technologies. In addition to CHaD's level III NICU, PICU, and inpatient ward, DHMC hosts New Hampshire's only Level-1 trauma center, its only air ambulance service, and over 30 graduate medical education programs, including a core Pediatrics residency.

The Section Chief is expected to be based at DHMC in Lebanon, which is located in the Upper Connecticut River Valley, on the Vermont border. Cultural opportunities are enhanced by Dartmouth College, and the area is renowned for 4 season outdoor activities including skiing, hiking, cycling and water sports. This is an opportunity for an academic career in a setting where others vacation, easily accessible to the cities of Boston, Montreal, and New York. Quality of life for young families and local public schools are excellent.

The Dartmouth-Hitchcock health system stretches over New Hampshire and Vermont and offers the quintessential New England experience. With no income or sales tax, this beautiful area combines history, industry and business and has been ranked consistently as one of the best places in the US to live and work. Anchored by the academic Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH, the system includes the NCI-designated Norris Cotton Cancer Center, the Children's Hospital at Dartmouth-Hitchcock; 4 affiliated hospitals and 30 Dartmouth-Hitchcock ambulatory clinics across the region. We are close to the urban centers of Boston, New York and Montreal, but also offer proximity to the seacoast and multiple top-tier ski mountains within a short driving distance. In the Upper Valley of New Hampshire, the opportunities – both career and personal – truly make our area the ideal place to work and play.
