Research Psychiatrist

Laureate Institute for Brain Research (LIBR), an independent research facility, is seeking an academic psychiatrist to join the team to develop an independent line of psychiatric research and provide clinical expertise. LIBR seeks candidates who have a commitment to scientific excellence and energy, enthusiasm, and innovative thinking necessary to maintain research efforts at the forefront of science. This position offers a unique and exciting opportunity for an extremely capable individual to develop and implement a clinical and applied research program.  

Aims of the institute:

Bring to bear a multidisciplinary research program aimed at illuminating the pathophysiology of neuropsychiatric disorders. 

Develop novel therapeutics, cures and preventions to improve the well-being of persons who suffer from or are at risk for neuropsychiatric illness. 

Foster collaboration among scientists, clinicians, and institutions engaged in research that enhances wellness and alleviates suffering from mental illness. 

There are no clinical or teaching responsibilities, this is a research position. There are two 3T GE scanners on site. License is required, M.D., Ph.D. preferred. Publications and history of NIH funding strongly preferred. May obtain faculty position at the University of Tulsa if desired. 

Responsibilities 

  1. Develop an outstanding independent research program focused on the application of neuroscience to elucidate the neurophysiological correlates and neural processing at a systems neuroscience level of human psychiatric disorders.
  2. Oversee a team that designs and conducts state-of-the-art research experiments that will translate into direct clinical benefit for patients, families and treatment providers.
  3. Publish research findings in top tier, peer-reviewed journals and deliver presentations at national and international scientific meetings.
  4. Receive research grants at the federal, state and foundation levels.
  5. Collaborate with LIBR investigators and local faculty to create synergies in research productivity and resources.
  6. Provide medical coverage on rotation for the institute.
  7. Provide consultative services to the assessment team for clarification of diagnostic criteria or eligibility for research participation.
  8. Participate in research subject visits as required by protocols.
