Mount Sinai Health Disparities/Women’s Health Researcher (Assistant Professor)

The Women’s Health Research Institute at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai is seeking a health disparities researcher at the level of Assistant Professor to lead research at the forefront of social inequalities in women’s health. The Women’s Health Research Institute will bring together multiple disciplines to build cutting-edge research programs in early translational research and health care quality and outcomes research with a focus on women’s health across the life course, including pre-adolescence, reproductive medicine, post-menopause, and geriatric care.

Because the Women’s Health Research Institute will address a broad range of medical, epidemiological and socioeconomic issues, the candidate’s specific discipline is less important than his or her track record of success, with the potential to build a research infrastructure and assemble and mentor an interdisciplinary scientific team that will attract extramural funding and conduct break-through science.  Experience working with women, and sensitivity in bringing research to the clinical arena, are essential.   A creative, forward-thinking mindset and ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders are crucial. The ideal candidate will have a portfolio of federally-funded research and track record of publication.
Applicants must hold an MD and/or PhD or equivalent.  Clinicians who intend to practice must be board-certified in their specialty, and must hold or be eligible for a New York State medical license.
Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai is the academic arm of the Mount Sinai Health System, which also includes seven superb member hospitals: The Mount Sinai Hospital, Mount Sinai Beth Israel, , Mount Sinai St. Luke’s, Mount Sinai West, New York Eye and Ear Infirmary of Mount Sinai, Mount Sinai Queens and Mount Sinai Brooklyn.  Within the School, 33 academic departments collaborate closely with a similar number of multidisciplinary institutes to conduct cutting-edge basic, translational and clinical research, and provide unparalleled clinical and training experiences.  The School currently ranks #13 nationwide in NIH funding, and leads the nation in NIH dollars per investigator.
Mount Sinai offers a competitive salary and an excellent benefits package. All interested applicants are invited to send their curriculum vitae and letter of interest to Ms. Ashaki Smith at
