Celerion, a worldwide leader in innovative clinical research, seeks an experienced medical doctor to join our Phoenix clinical team as a Principal Investigator (PI). If you are a doctor in family, internal or emergency medicine, possess an AZ state medical license (or have the ability to obtain one), have an interest in participating in the forefront of clinical research, and are ready to leave the nightmare of traditional insured patient care behind, consider joining our team!

The PI is responsible for the safety of healthy subject participants in clinical trials of investigational therapeutics. PIs work collaboratively in a team of medical doctors, support staff, and excellent nurses support to enroll volunteers onto trials, review on-study safety data, and perform direct safety monitoring including physical exams and review of ECGs, labs and other medical testing. Additionally, PIs communicate directly with our study Sponsors during study development and for review of safety data.

Essential Functions:

  • Review protocol and Investigator Brochure for subject safety, scientific and operational feasibility of study. Provide input to sponsor as indicated.
  • Attend study initiation meetings with sponsor; these occur on- and off-site and rare travel may be required.
  • Communicate with Institutional Review Board as needed during protocol approval process and if subject safety issues arise.
  • Explain study to participants and answer questions, ensure proper consent, and perform screening examination and other assessments.
  • Verify eligibility of study volunteers and finalize enrollment on clinical trials.
  • Manage adverse events that occur during clinical trials, including clinical evaluations, referrals, follow up monitoring and provide updates to study sponsors regarding safety data.
  • Compose narratives of safety data as needed.



  • MD or DO degree and current AZ state medical license (or ability to obtain AZ licensure within 6 months).
  • Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification or willing to obtain upon hire.
  • Successful completion of an ACGME residency program in family medicine, internal medicine, or emergency medicine.
  • Ability to obtain DEA certificate for schedule II medications
  • 3-5 years of medical/clinical experience preferred
  • Clinical research experience preferred
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
