The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and the Division of Endocrinology and Diabetes in the Department of Pediatrics at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seek candidates for an Associate or Full Professor position in either the non-tenure clinician-educator track or the tenure track.  The position is for Chief, Division of Endocrinology and Diabetes.

The Division of Endocrinology and Diabetes is comprised of nearly 30 faculty with diverse clinical and investigative interests, 12 fellows, 18 NPs, and over 60 staff members, including nutritionists, certified diabetes educators, RNs, and social workers. The Division has been ranked number one by U.S. News and World Report for multiple years. Advanced training in the Division is supported by an NIH T32 training grant and a K12 Diabetes Research Career Development Program Award. Clinicians in the Division evaluate and treat a broad range of disorders in general endocrinology clinics and specialized centers of excellence related to diabetes, hyperinsulinism, growth disorders, sexual maturation, bone and mineral metabolism, and thyroid, adrenal, and pituitary problems. Clinical and translational research in the Division focuses on natural history and interventional trials in type 1 and type 2 diabetes; pediatric thyroid cancer; hyperinsulinism; epigenetic, environmental and inflammatory mediators of insulin resistance; metabolic bone disease and parathyroid disorders; health care disparities; mitochondrial regulation of bioenergetics; and CNS-mediated obesity. Extramural-funded basic science research programs investigate the molecular genetic control of parathyroid cell biology and PTH action; pancreatic beta cell physiology and development; thyroid neoplasia; genetic control of vitamin D activation; and regulation of mineralization.

Requirements

Applicants must have an M.D or M.D./Ph.D. degree and have demonstrated excellent qualifications in education, research, and clinical care. Candidates must be Board Certified in Pediatric Endocrinology.

The Division Chief reports to the Chair of the Department and works closely with the other Division Chiefs, the Associate Chairs, and the Vice Chair in the Department of Pediatrics. The Division Chief will oversee the clinical, research, and educational activities of the Division, lead recruiting efforts in the Division, and ensure career mentoring for all faculty and fellows in the Division.
