Job Details

Interested in joining a biomedicine international training research programme? Have in mind a translational research project? If so, we are pleased to announce you that IDIBAPS has launched the 1st international BITRECS call is now open until March 31st 2018. Don’t miss the opportunity!

The present international and peer-reviewed call seeks to recruit the first 5 promising and motivated postdoctoral clinician-scientists of the BITRECS training research programme.

What is Bitrecs?

The IDIBAPS launches BITRECS, a fellowship programme for excellent and highly motivated clinician-scientists to boost their research careers. BITRECS, supported by the European Commission, is a unique programme thanks to its network of 18 collaborative partner organisations.

Successful postdoctoral researchers will carry out a 3-year research only placement in the context of an international collaboration, comprising an international outgoing mobility stage of 12-18 months and a return phase of 18-24 months at IDIBAPS. To apply to BITRECS all candidates will have to present a 36-month research proposal fitted into one of the IDIBAPS research lines in which they will freely chose the research topic, their outgoing institution and supervisor.

Targeted fellows

Applicants to BITRECS must prove a research background and clinical residency training or experience acquired in a hospital/healthcare centre contributing directly or indirectly to the patient care. Clinician-scientists at postdoctoral level with different professional backgrounds are invited to apply for the programme: medical doctors, pharmacists, biologists, psychologists, between others.

BITRECS fellows are expected to focus on their research career for the next 3 years with the purpose of becoming clinician-scientists in the future.

Benefits

IDIBAPS will offer 10 post-doctoral clinician-scientists positions, 5 positions for each of the two calls. Each fellow will receive around 50.000€ as annual gross salary. They will also benefit from life-long training and networking opportunities especially related to career development, business and entrepreneurship.

How to apply?

Applications for the BITRECS programme have to be submitted through the on-line application tool available on the BITRECS website (My application at www.bitrecs.idibaps.org). Proposals must be written in English. The deadline for applications is March, 31st 2018.

You will find all the information at http://bitrecs.idibaps.org/

Why BITRECS?

IDIBAPS as a pioneer in clinician-scientist promotion launches BITRECS  "Biomedicine international training research programme for excellent clinician-scientists”. This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie grant agreement No 754550. Additionally, to launch internationally this first call, BITRECS initiative has also been supported by the SIMPACT project (Spanish Ministry of Economy, Industry and Competitiveness- MINECO, EUC2014-C-51553).

At IDIBAPS, August Pi i Sunyer Biomedical Research Institute, clinican-scientists perform translational research in order to tackle high-prevalence, high-morbidity and high-mortality diseases. Founded in 1996, it is a public consortium whose members are the Catalan Government, the Hospital Clínic of Barcelona, the University of Barcelona’s School of Medicine and the CSIC Biomedical Research Institute in Barcelona. This strategic composition is ideal for creating powerful synergies and ensuring that its research is effectively transferred to the patient and featured in the training of new health professionals.
